Upminster camera club

September 18, 2014  •  1 Comment

I had a pleasant surprise at Upminster camera club when I was given a classic motorbike and the brilliant owner Eric to demonstrate how to create some striking portraits using just one studio light.

The first image has the light quite close on a lower power setting and it creates a lovely split ligh on the subject, however not enough light is falling on the motorbike making it look dark and heavy so the light was pulled back a little to allow for better coverage. It has the effect of softening the light on the subject and lighting the bike more evenly. The next few shots show how by little changes in the way the model moves his head can create different looks to the set up.
